Crystal Clear Glass vs Clear Glass

You might think all glass is the same but that’s untrue. Certain types of glass have different characteristics and are suitable for specific applications.

The difference between Crystal Clear Glass and Clear Glass is that the latter has an intrinsic green hue present, which slightly obstructs the view and distorts colours. The green tinge in Clear Glass is very obvious. Due to the natural presence of iron oxide from elements such as sand or from the cask or container in which the glass was actually melted, Clear Glass always has a green hue and is not the clearest type you can get. So, it’s important to clarify which type of glass your builder or glazier plans to install.

Free from the green hue, Crystal Clear Glass allows colours to appear more vibrant and stunning offering unsurpassed clarity.

CRYSTAL CLEAR GLASS APPLICATIONS

Glaziers can create Crystal Clear Glass by reducing the amount of iron in the molten glass formula. This makes it more transparent than regular Clear Glass and can increase the light transparency by 5 to 6 percent. Crystal Clear Glass also allows more natural light to flow.

Crystal Clear Glass is also better suited for back-painting, coating and colour matching. It makes for a much smoother finish, allowing you to find the exact shade you require.
